Yam production business

One of the best farm produce with a very high prospect is yam production business.Yam is a very good plant with very high prospects as it is used for various purposes. Below are some very good advantages of yam that makes it good;

1)      It produces very fast.
2)      It has a very high yield.
3)      It adapts very easily to any soil it finds itself in as long as it is well tended to.
4)      It produces very big sizes thereby maximizing profit and minimizing cost.
5)      Rather than you having to buy fertilizer as some plants must use fertilizer,it does better with natural manure.
6)      It comes in different sizes thereby enabling you to be able to separate them according to sizes and then giving them prices.
    Now it is important that you all note that this is a give and take crop as it will only give you what you gave it, if you sowed small seed yams it will simply give you various variations of small yams and if you sow large seed yams it will give you various variations of large yams. So the choice is yours.
    Like I always say in most of my blog posts ‘THE SECRET OF BUSINESS IS ABOUT YOU SEEING WHAT OTHERS ARE NOT SEEING AND ACTING ON THEM’ this is a very through statement because entrepreneurs have not been able to look properly into what this wonderful plant can be used to produce, it has not yet been completely explored which makes it to have only a few applications today and they are listed below;

1)      It can be eaten cooked: This produce called “YAM” is part of the favourites of lots of Africans and so it is a very good product when you sell it you could make lots of money without any stress.
2)      It is used to make flour: it’s actually my guess that this is the only internationally recognized thing gotten from this product, as flour has a very high application today in the feeding industry.
3)      The back of the yam is very good for feeding goats, infact this makes up a very good part of their food.
Like I said, research is still being carried on exploring the full potentials of this crop both by me and a host of others but the above are the uses have found for now in this wonderful agricultural product called “yam”. Below is a break down of the cost of production of this very crop;

1)      Land- N50,000.00
2)      Tractor hire- N20,000.00
3)      Seed yams- N12,000.00
4)      Rodent pesticides- N10,000.00
5)      Miscellaneous- N17,000.00
Now the above is a brief break down of the cost of production, which is only about N109,000.00,below is how to go about it;

1)      Clear the land.
2)      Goto the market and get the seed yams with N12,000.00 you would get about 100pcs of big seed yams.
3)      Create the heaps needed for cultivating the yams as this crop can’t do without heaps.
4)      Pour water on the heaps.
5)      Then come back the next day and sow your seed yams.
6)      Watch it for a month and two weeks making sure you weed and tend it .
7)      Then go and get stakes and stake it to enable it climb as this crop will not yield without being staked.
8)      Wait for it to mature usually within nine months then harvest it.
When this crop produces,one plant could bring upto 8 yams to 10 yams which means you should expect 500 yams from 50 plants. Now this crop is sold based on size,if you have big sizes you could sell one for as high as N3,000.00 and people will still buy it.3000*500=N1,500,000.00…………..sold price.
1,500,000-109,000=N1,391,000.00……………..profit.
     So you can see that the prosepcts of this crop are very good to make some cool cash in a legitimate way and to export it, the United Kingdom is the best place to take it to as there is a high demand for this product there and the suppliers are few, therefore the market is not yet fully crowded by various merchants as they don’t yet know this crop's full value.
